“The activist is not the man who says the river is dirty. The activist is the man who cleans up the river.”
Ross Perot
In our quest to raise awareness of the importance of rivers, we found out that we are not the only ones protecting them. There are many activists fighting against river pollution!
We read information about eight of them and discovered that they came from different parts of the world. The river Anoia is not the only river with problems; most rivers on the planet are in danger.
Although the texts were quite different, it was easy to see that they all had a similar structure and included similar information. This made the English texts quite easy to understand because they followed the same pattern. With this in mind, it was time to test our reading skills and complete the charts with the personal information of each activist.
Locating the information in the text and identifying the words was quite difficult at times, but by working in teams, we helped each other, making the task achievable for everyone.

Once the activity was done, we noticed that something was missing: if we were activists, we also needed to do the activity ourselves. Using the models we had previously read, we wrote our own texts introducing ourselves.
Just check them out!
