VOLUMES

In Tintins, in the context of making a model, we have been working with volumes. They draw a grid of squares mesuring 2 centimeters per side.

Later, they had to create a sculpture taking into account full, empty, shadow and light.

Once they have finished, they had to take photos using a light in order to play with light and shadows with the full and empty spaces they had worked with.

Finally they wrote a reflection about their process, if they have enjoyed the process, if they had any difficulties, etc.

A SCREENWRITER VISITS US

Since we are working on a film about Jocelyn Bell Brunell, a screenwriter named Feran Folch visited us. He explained some of the key factors about storytelling. How to catch the attention, how comunication is related to connect with the audience.

All Massagrans seemed really interested. Many questions had been asked. His visit originated a new activity about universal topis. Now we are going to try to identify these topics in our favourite films.

GREAT SCIENTISTS FROM THE XIX CENTURY

In Petits Prínceps, following the project about experiments, we have posted three fotos in the time line in order to remember when the Berlin’s wall was build and when it was demolished. We also thought it could be important to remember when the Covid afected, in many ways, our lives.

Afterwards, we realized there was a century without facts. Between the French Revolution and Wolrd War 1 there is nothing in our timelines. At that point we decided, in groups, to gather some information about scientists who invented or discovered somehting important for our society.

We are preparing presentations in order to share them with the class soon.

HOW CAN WE HELP BIRDS?

Today we had a conversation around birds. Linking birds with the current project in Alicies we decided, that we could adapt the project to birds in an new question: How can we help birds?

Some Alicies pointed out that trees where necessary as well as a house or a nest. Finally, one Alicia said that water and food would be essencial.

After this conversation we decided to go at the “Comunitat de Petits” playgroud. There we found that there were trees and two houses for birds.

When we came back to the classroom we decided that we could help birds building a bird through.

We had a great conversation and the feeling of putting the projecrt on the track.

AN EXPERIMENT WITH POTATOES AND A CLOCK

In Petits Princeps we have been experimenting with a set one student brought to school. It was a quite simple connections with wires and Copper and Zinc plates. The first experiment it was connecting all the things to two potatoes and a clock. Then we saw the clock working. At that point we formulate our hypothesis. How could that generate electricity?

Later we made the same experiment but changing the potatoes for two cups filled with water. The clock was working agan. Some of us speculate with the fact that water is a good conductor. However, when we tried to connect the plates directly surprisingly the clock wasn’t working.

In the end we deduced there was a chemical reaction between Copper, Zinc and water.

We really enjoyed the experience and we are really looking forward to repeat the experience.

ENDANGERED ANIMALS

Today we had a conversation around endangered animals. Some Alicies pointed out that they felt angry and sad at the same time. However, they also said that it was a problem to be solved.

In the meantime, we started talking about an endangered animal in particular: the blue whale. They where amazed by its size. Since 30 meters is kind of a complex number to imagine, we have measured 30 meters in the corridor. Later, one Alicia said that we could check if all Alicies together would be able to cover that distance. It was almost 30 meters but a blue whale is still too long!

To finish, we have made a blue whale with a blue paper using origamy techniques.

AFTERNOON GAMES

Today in the afternoon we have been playing games in Rovellons. In English we played Twister and Who am I?.

They have enjoyed the combination of kinestetic games, language games and building. While playing all these games they practice some structures while having fun.

JOCELYN BELL BRUNELL – OUR VERSION

Lately we have been talking about how some women had been contributing with something relevant. However they were left apart by society. Since we are working about this topic but in some other classes they are having conversations about scientists as well as the outer space, we have decided to start a mini project in which we are going to explain the story of Jocelyn Bell Brunell, a scientist who discovered the pulsars. However shed hadn’t been reacognized.

Today we have been rewriting our own version of the story. Our objective is to create a film about the story.

DO ALL NESTS ARE SIMILAR?

Today we have been talking about how different nests are. Some are simply a bunch of twicks accurately assabled together, others are a hole or a cavity in any given material. There is something surprising, some birds only scarb a little soil or stones in order to make their nests. We got also surprised by the platforms and “islands” (mound nests) build by some birds.

Afterwards we draw and paited the one we prefered.
