TABLE GAMES IN PETITS PRINCEPS

Today we have been playing table games. Each game includes and part in which they have to say something in English. Apart from this we started a game about building sentences and translating them.

Overall, they seemed really engaged and they participated really actively. Therefore, we might repeat this dynamic soon.

“CONTE” IN ENGLISH

We have been listening to a song of a singer called Eduard Canimas. In particular we have been listening to the song “Conte”. Our idea is to translate the song into English and then record our own version. In order to do it, we have been putting in order all its sentences. Some of us knew the song by heart, some of us just listenend to the song without paying much attention to the lirircs. However, between all of us it was quite easy to find out the right order.

After listening to the song twice, we were sure that we found out the correct order. Later, in groups, we had been trying to find words or sentences we already knew. It was surprising how much English we know between all of us.

OWLS NOCTURNAL BIRDS

Today we have been talking about nocturnal birds. Some pointed out that they sleep during the day. One of them explain that it was like if night was daytime and vice versa.

After listening to a story about an owl that couldn’t sleep.

They have drawn owls with pencil. Later they traced the drawings with a thin pen. Then they painted with water colours.

In a dark poster board, they have paited stars and the Moon with a white crayon.

Finally they cut and stuck the owl in the cardboard.

A ONE CUP PANCAKES EXPERIMENT

Following the experiments we have been doing in the project we have decided to continue with one about chemistry. As many humans we love cooking therefore we decided to cook pancakes.

First we checked the recipie with its ingredients, the tools we need and the method. One student pointed out that it could be called process. However, we prefer to name it method because it is a closer language to science.

After following all the steps the results, in general where successful. Really few pancakes got burned and ended up in the litter.

They seemed all very engaged and showed joyfullness while doing the activity.

MEASURING, CALCULATING AND LOOKING UP FOR THE BEST WOOD

Today we had a conversation about what do we need in order to build the bird houses. At the begining we had been talking about the amount of houses we should build. We have decided that this number would be around five or six.

Later we asked Marta, the school director, if it was possible to buy wood. She told us that possibly yes but we should present a budget to Lidia who is the person in charge to administrate this issues at shcool.

Then we decided that we had to find out what amount of wood we need and which one is the best wood. After some time looking for the information we decided pine wood would be the most appropriate because is resistaint enough and cheap,

We haven’t calculated yet the total wood we are going to need but we are on the right path to find it.

HOW TO DO THE HAKA

Today we have been talking around the intrastory in the film “Whale rider”. We related the topic of this film to our project as well as identifying the roles of the main characters. We identified the universal values of the movie in order to do it.

Later, we have learned how to do a Haka. Watching a tutorial we have learned the main ideas of that Haka and then we have learned and practiced the movements while singing.

OUR FOREST AND THE GRUFFALO

Lately we have been working around the forests and some of this was related to a story about a mouse and a monster in a forest named Gruffalo.

Today we have watched the film about the Gruffalo. Since we knew the story because lately we had been told it more than once, it wasn’t difficult to understand. Indeed, some of us had been able to understand a little bit more about this tale thanks to the film.

Later we drawn some of the elements in the story. We looked for labels with names spreaded all around the class. After drawing the element or character, we outlined with a black pen, painted with water collors, cutted out the outline and stuck them in our forest mural.

NEW FACTS FOR THE TIMELINE AND PRESENTATIONS

Today we have been finishing the new facts for the timeline. Before starting, Jordi from Massagrans came to the classroom to explain how he manage to paint one of his productions with so many colours. He explained how he mixes them with white in order to get clearer colours. From them he kept mixing them until achieve many tonalities.

Some students pointed out that last course they watched a video in which they coud see how to get secondary and terthiary colours from only the three primary colours. Apart from this Jordi’s painting has two different sides, one with cold colors and the other with warm ones. Some students connected with that fact and the video.

Later, some students finished the oral presentations and therefore they presented their character from the XIX centry to the rest of the class.

When they finished the presentation they were painting their Baobabs following Jordi’s advice.

COUNTING NESTS AND TREES

Today we asked Carlos if he could give us the two bird houses they have in “Comunitat de Petits”. We have explores what was it in the inside. It was surprising. Two nests made with hay and with some feathers!

We have speculated if that nest was big enough to lay eggs. Later some Alicies pointed out the fact that eggs could be much smaller than the ones we buy in a sumermarket if birds are smaller than hens.

After a conversation we decided that we are going to build some bird houses like the ones in “Comunitat de Petits”.

Since we have the Mayoress’ consent, we are going to hang them on the trees in front of the school. Therefore, we decided we should cound how many trees and how many nest there are in front of the school.

In general Alicies were really excited with this process.
