A CONVERSATION ABOUT BIRD BEAKS AND CLAWS

In Alicies, and following the previous session about birds we have worked around how these animals are specialists. First we talk about their beaks. After the conversation they did an experiment. With different obects such as tweezers, chopsticks and kitchen tongs. The objective was to realize that with some tools it is easier to pick some types of seeds whereas with others it was easier to pick smaller ones.

Later, we have talked about claw and types of feed. They have deduced that different claws are very good for certain uses. Afterwards they have chosen one type and build a model with palaydough.

SKETCHING BIRDS!

Today in Alicies we have talked about birds. We had a conversationa about assumtions that are common in all birds such as: all birds have feathers or all birds lay eggs. Some assumtions we knew but were kind of triky like for example: Some birds can’t fly but they can swim very well.

Finally we skeched a bird with pencil then we coloured using water colours and finally we outlined the drawing with a marker.

WE TALK AND EXPERIMENT ABOUT HURRICANES

This week we have talked around a climathologic topic: Hurricanes. We have watched some videos about different Hurricanes, one in Puerto Rico and one in Florida.

We also talked about how they are originated and how do they act. Finally we made an experiment to simulate an hurricane. We could differenciate the center with the borders and their different speed.

WE PREPARE A CONTEMPORARY HISTORY TIMELINE

On Wednesday we remembered some of the facts worked along the previous course such as: The Great War, the Spanish Civil War, Nelson Mandela, among others. One of the objectives was to investigate when some of those facts happened as well as contextualizing The Little Prince.

First, we remembered each fact by asking what did they know about photos related to the facts. Later they looked up, with the Chromebooks, when each fact had happen. Finally they glued them in order.

WE PLAY TABLE GAMES IN ENGLISH

Today we have been playing table games in our class of Rovellons. One game was about picking the fruit of four trees before the crow could eat them all. Another it was about racing cars. We had to roll the dice and advance according to the color combination. The last one it was a about eggs and rolling dice. Each time we had to do different things such as running around the table, imitate a cockerel or catching a bouncy egg.

We had lots of fun!

TINTIN’S BOOK COVERS

Today we have been working on the Tintin project. We made hypothesis trying to find were is each book set in. The first process was based on deduction by reading the title and looking at the illustrations of each cover. After, with the help of chromebooks and catalan and spanish versions of the book, we looked up for new information that might complete the one we already found.

Afterwards, we put in common our findings and hypiothesis in order to find a conclusion.

A DEDICATION

Today we worked the Little Princes’ dedication to Leon Werth. Fist we started a conversation about what a dedication is. Later we read the dedication. At the beginning they were affraid with such a long text. Afterwards, they realized that among all the class they were able to understand most of it.
