BUILDING SIX BIRD HOUSES

Today two parents came to the class to help us assembleing the six bird houses we have been projecting.

In the process we have been marking where the holes should be drilled. After measuring and marking them, one of the parents help us marking them with a small hole hammering the wood with an edgy piece of steel.

Later on, we saw how one of the parents drilled the wood and soon after srewed the boards in order the build the bird house.

There are still a couple of thigs to be done. We still have to screw the hinge in order to be able to open the birds house. The other remaining process is to drill a hole which is going to be the entrance.

The experience was worthy.

REHEARSAL

We are now preparing the stories. Today we have been rehearsing “Elmer” and “We are going on a bear hunt”. Apart from this we have been planning the attrezzo.

As part of the rehearsal we have been highliting our roles in the story. Then we have been practicing. Every time we are doing better.

TRANSFORMING THE FOOD PYRAMID INTO A PLATE

Lately we have been working around the food pyramid and groups of food. Today we have been doing a challenge. Tranform the food pyramid into a plate.

The reason why it was quite obvious: the food pyramid gives very little practical information about what amount should we eat daily or on each meal.

Most Petit Princeps choose pyramid number 4 as the healthiest. According to that pyramid vegetables and fruit should be around a 50% of the plate.

Some of us decided to include the percentatge in order to make it more clear while checking the plate.

SOTRY BOOK

After writing a text from scratch and traslating it into English, today we have been creating the Story book. It is basically split the story in scenes. Later we have to draw what is happening in that particular scene. Apart from this we have to consider the material we are going to use in our stop motion.

ANALIZING FOOD PYRAMIDS

We have been analizing some food pyramids. First we brain stormed some concepts we already knew about it. Then we have been given some instructions. To analize the information we would find in seven different food pyramids spread all over the corridor.

The process it was organized in three different observations. In the first one we had to look at them and have a first contact. The second part it was to take a deeper look at them trying to register in a papersheet aspects of each pyramid we considered relevant. The third part of the process it was to try to define which one of the pyramids is better and why.

We are still in the third part of the process.

HANGING THE BIRD FEEDERS

As planned today we have hanged the bird feeders. Fist we weighted the four different types of food: Chia, flax seeds, sunflower seeds and peanuts.

After weighting them we filled up the bird feeders we biuld some days ago.

Soon after we hanged the camera. We still have doubts about how does it work but conversating in the classroom we found out that the camera might work only when it detects movement.

Finally we hanged the bird feeders in front of the camera. We don’t know exactly if it’s going to work but soon we are going to find out.

UNSTOPPABLE… A SONG FROM THE SWIMMERS

At the begining of the class one student asked the teacher: “Why don’t you prepare us a Kahoot?” and the dialogue stopped there because the class was about to begin.

We have worked around a song “Unstoppable” we’d heard in the last film we watched in class, The swimmers. First we talked about words. For example first the teacher asked what does it means: “Stop”. We aswered and then he wrote after that word: “pable” so the word was: “Stoppable”. One Petit Princep answered and then the teacher wrote: “Unstoppable” and the answer was almost unanimous: “something that it can’t be stopped”.

Soon after, we had to put in order the sentences of the song. It took us some hearings but in the end we succeded.

Later on, we played a kahoot about the song. It was quite difficult, however, since we had done the previous activities, it was more affordable.

WE MAKE A BIRD FEEDER

One of the aims of our project is to help birds. We have decided to build bird houses as well as bird feeders.

Today we build bird feeders. With a bottle, a cork, a screwhook, a string and a wooden spoon we made six bird feeders.

Our ide is to hang four of them in one playgroun with different food. Some Alicies are interesten in finding out which is their favourite food or what food is better for each breed of bird.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

Today we have went to Can Papasseit to a theatre play in English. The classic Beauty and the Beast adapted in a version set nowadays in London and Hollywood.

All groups in Primary education from Rovellons to Massagrans enjoyed the show. Some of them loved the songs, some of them the jokes and some others, the whole show.

When it was almost at the end, four students had the opportunity to get on stage. It was an exciting moment.
