Entrevista a la Julie

Els alumnes de 2n d’ESO han tingut l’oportunitat d’entrevistar la Julie Bol, la nostra auxiliar de conversa. La Julie és de Seattle i va arribar al centre el 21 de gener. Estarà amb nosaltres fins a final de curs. Aquesta és una mostra de les preguntes que li han fet els alumnes.

Why did you decide to come to Spain?

I came to Spain because I wanted to experience another culture. I had lived in the same place my whole life and I wanted something new and different.

How did you feel when you arrived in Barcelona?

I was really scared. I’d never lived away from home before, so I was very nervous.

Do you like this high school?

I do like this high school, the students are very nice.

What do you enjoy about working with teenagers?

I enjoy remembering what I was like when I was a teenager. A lot of memories come back. I also like to talk to teenagers and help them to understand their emotions.

How many languages do you speak?

Only English fluently, and I speak a little Spanish, a little French, a little Catalan and a little Korean.

Do you think American people like to learn languages?

Some American people do but overall Americans don’t want to learn other languages. They know English and this is enough for them. They are happy speaking only English.

What’s your favourite animal?

I really like orca whales. They are black and white and they are from where I live.

What healthy habits do you have during the week?

Healthy habits I do during the week include going for long walks and eating less chocolate.

What was your first job?

My first job was at a video store.

Where do you want to work in the future?

I don’t know where I want to work in the future. Possibly as a teacher somewhere.

What did you like doing when you were a teenager?

Julie: I enjoyed hanging out with my friends and listening to music.

What do you like the most in Osona?

I like the history here, being able to walk around and see such old buildings and the history behind them. Back home we don’t  have very old buildings.

What’s your favorite city in Spain?

My favorite city in Spain so far is probably Barcelona.

What country would you like to visit in the future?

I would really like to visit Russia although it would be difficult.

What are your thoughts on what’s happening in Ukraine right now?

I think it’s really sad, and it scares me a little because Russia has nuclear weapons, but I’m happy that at least the US has a sane president right now. He’s decent.

Did you use to like school?

I did, I liked school more as I got older.

Have you ever won a trophy?

When I played baseball, when I was young, I won the happiest player award. My coach said that every time I ran the bases I had the biggest smile on my face!

Who was your idol when you were a kid?

Oh! When I was a kid…that’s a good question. I think it was one of my teachers. I really liked one of my teachers. Her name was Mrs Forbes.

In your free time, what do you like to do?

In my free time I like to go for long walks. I also like to read, watch TV and talk to friends.

What do you like the most about yourself?

Julie: I think I like my curiosity and my compassion, so I feel a lot for others and I want to constantly learn.

Where would you like to travel when you’re older?

I would like to travel to South Korea.

When you go back to Seattle, what will be the first thing that you will do?

Julie: I think the first thing I’ll do is eat at my favourite restaurant. I love Thai food, spicy food, and so I plan to do that.
