Water World Day

22nd March: WORLD WATER DAY

For a couple of sessions during this last term, our 1st ESO students developed a door decorating project to raise awareness about the importance of saving drinking water. This project responds to our “green school philosophy”. Here are the reflections of some of the students:

Student’s comments on the activity

ESO1A:

‘In high school, the boys and the girls of the first ESO made a project for “World water day”. We made a wallpaper to put it in the doors of our classes to commemorate this day. This project helps us to work in groups and improve our capacity to write and speak in English. It was very funny!’

ESO1C:

‘Hi,

We are the class of 1C, and we are going to talk about the project that we do for the international day of the water.

We had to do tips to waste less water, we put the things that we think that we have to use more water and we don’t need that, for example we don’t need a pool because all the  days we have to change the water or the dishwasher, we only can put the water in a recipient and  use that water for clean the plates.

We want to tell you that you can use less water if you try it and if you use less water all the days you can help prevent droughts.’

‘In our class we did a poster for the door with the tips for saving water. We decore it with a green poster and we put clouds and rain falling from them. We had a good time doing the decorations and we enjoyed.’

1r ESO E:

Our class made a poster and calculated the water needed to produce 1kg of different types of food. With this activity we have learned that producing meat needs more water than producing vegetables. It is important to raise awareness of the need to consume more vegetables than meat. This action is better for the environment.
