The project

The goal of our project is to receive postcards from all over the world, for free. Well, almost free! The main idea is that when we send a postcard, we will receive one back from a random Postcrosser from somewhere in the world. This will be good for our English and also a great experience-

Why? Because, like the people on the Postcrossing site, lots of us think that it is great to send and to receive real mail (with addresses and stamps and everything).
The element of surprise of receiving postcards from different places in the world (many of which you probably have never heard of) can turn our mailbox into a box of surprises – and who wouldn’t like that?

How does it work?

Would you like to join us and participate?  Here are some simple instructions.

  1. Register at the Postcrossing webpage
  2. Request an address from the website
  3. Mail the postcard to the address
  4. Wait to receive a postcard
  5. Register the received postcard in the system

The first step is to request to send a postcard. The website will display (and send you an email) with the address of another member and a Postcard ID (e.g.: US-786). You then mail a postcard to that member.

The member receives the postcard and registers it using the Postcard ID that is on the postcard. At this point, you are eligible to receive a postcard from another user. You are now in line for the next person that requests to send a postcard. Where the postcard comes from is a surprise!

You can have up to 5 postcards traveling at any single time. Every time one of the postcards you send is registered, you can request another address. The number of postcards allowed to travel at any single time goes up the more postcards you send!

At the moment we are sending our first postcards.  They are going to the UK, Russia, China and other countries.

An International Project

The idea is that this is an international project, we want to start with the Postcrossing site and then publish the cards we receive here on the internet so we can compare our activities with the other partners in the project.

There are six schools involved but at the moment only one has also started sending and receiving postcards.  This is a school in Turkey, here you can see a picture of their students and the teachers Nergiz Merttas and Berrin Kaba.  We are really happy that they are working with us and we will be in contact with them soon.

We hope to be in contact with more schools as well.

When we receive our first postcards we will post them here and use a large map to show other people in our school who we are talking to.

See you soon!
