Mobility in educating young people on a green-thinking, healthy and sustainable lifestyle

From October 2 to October 7, 2022, Ventspils Vocation Technical school welcomed participants from Netherlands (Alfa-college) and Catalonia (Sports Institute of Barcelona). The participants, including the students of Ventspils Vocational Technical school, were educated and encouraged to introduce friendly and sustainable solutions to their own personal and environment health. A total of 24 participants took part in the training week, in addition, a conference was organized, bringing together around 600 visitors.

The sustainability of the planet and its inhabitants, the mental and physical health of people, the nutritional and daily habits are the three “cornerstones” which are becoming more and more topical for all of us, have also encouraged the Erasmus+ project “Plant based nutrition and sports. Is that a key for sustainable future and well-being?”

During the training week organized by Ventspils Technical Vocational school, participants engaged in a variety of athletic activities – a hike around lake Būšnieki, frisbee and volleyball training, ice-skating. The participants gained knowledge at the science and innovation center “Vitim” and the project conference, after the athletic and educational activities, participants devoted time to improving their well-being at Ventspils Water Adventure Park. In addition, throughout the week, guests were provided with a more environmentally friendly diet, based solely on products of plant origin.

More in-depth knowledge of all the topics of the project was gained at the project conference, which took place in the concert hall “Latvija”, with experts from four different areas – sports, psychology, nutrition and environment.

To conclude the mobility week, creative workshops were organized in the premises of Ventspils Vocational Technical school, in which participants could reflect on their knowledge and share the impressions of past week in Ventspils. All participants unanimously agreed on the values of this mobility: it was not only a good time and new friendships, but also particapants acquired and strengthened knowledge of human and environmental health and sustainable solutions.

Mobility is implemented by the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership (KA2) project “Plant based nutrition and sports. Is that a key for sustainable future and well-being?” and has been the result of funding from European Union funds.
