In the English class 3rd of ESO, we have learnt that a videoblog, vlog or vilog is a variant of a blog that consists of a gallery of videos, arranged chronologically, published by one or more authors. The aesthetics of a vlog are based on the face-to-face of the vlogger speaking to his/her audience, either acting interpretively or sincerely and honestly.
To put it into practise we designed a Travel Vlog in Madrid explaining viewers our personal and own route of the Austrias and Madrid as a capital city. Thus, we worked on different subjects: English, Technology and Social Sciences.
On the second of March the students of 3rd ESO went to Madrid to visit the city and study the Austrias to create our vlogs. There, we saw the monuments, the important touristic sites of the capital and we interviewed people from other countries. We did a lot of activities, such as visiting the Prado Museum and admiring the works by Velazquez, El Greco, Murillo, Goya and other important artists from Baroque period. We also did a guide tour around the city centre including relevant sites from the times of the Austrias like Plaza Mayor, Plaza de la Villa or Plaza del Sol. Besides, we saw the Royal Palace, the Congress of Deputies, Cibeles and Neptune Fountains, Alcalá Gate, the Temple of Debod, Retiro Park and some others. In our vlogs we explained the more relevant facts of the monuments that we saw and we added some interviews to make the vlogs more dynamic.
We enjoyed the activities a lot and learnt about the history of the city, while practising our English oral skills. I hope you´ll find our vlogs interesting and fun!
