The Picture of Dorian Gray, by Oscar Wilde

On Monday 9th March the 3rd and 4th ESO students of our school attended an adaptation of the well-known play The Picture of Dorian Gray, by Oscar Wilde. We went to Auditori de la Diputació de Tarragona.

Dorian is a fashionable young man who, when seeing a beautiful portrait of himself, expresses his wish to remain young forever. In other words,  he sells his soul for eternal youth and beauty. The story will show us the terrible consequences of his decision. In this version, a native English actor plays Dorian and an English actress plays  the rest of the characters. They offered us a great, convincing performance, with an understandable English level. A student from the audience also helped going on stage and playing Basil, the painter. That was a funny moment.

After  the performance we stayed for a while and our pupils could  have a little talk with the players. It was worth it,  since they are young people themselves who have just finished their university studies. All in all, a very enjoyable experience. We recommend The Picture of Dorian Gray to all the schools.
