I’m an Influencer!

I’M AN INFLUENCER!

The students of the 4th ESO were asked to work on a project titled ‘I’m an influencer!’. Their objective was to answer the following question: “Have the influencers a positive or negative impact on society?”

In small groups, because of the pandemic situation, the students designed different types of presentations. The aim was of choosing a type of social media influencer and show through him or her their own point of view about this topic.

Despite being a “free-elective” project, where they could choose between doing interviews, shows, PowerPoints, videos with images… most of them decided to film a video interviewing one or two influencers. Even so, there was a variety of content, from very simple projects to really elaborated ones.

Some students dressed up and played their role very well, used props and put on makeup. Others made it simpler, but instead focused more on a good quality edition of the video. Some of them decided not to record themselves and made videos with images using music and voice-over, and others made PowerPoints as an introduction to the rest of the presentations.

There was a student who decided to use this opportunity and raised her voice to talk about racism. She did an interview and, at the same time, expressed herself and spoke about this serious problem. There were also some helped by their parents: recording, narrating and even correcting their pronunciation.

Once all the projects were finished, several classes were dedicated to watching the videos and assessing each one in groups to get a joint score from the class and the teacher.

Thanks to this project, the students have been able to work on many aspects and develop some skills that are not normally used in school, such as acting, editing, creativity… They have learnt new vocabulary and structures and have been able to work and improve their speaking.
