En una engrescadora fusió d’història en anglès, art i matemàtiques, els nostres estudiants de 2n d’ESO han realitzat el projecte “Build your DIY Astrolabe. The Al-Andalus Legacy”. Aquest viatge educatiu ha començat amb l’anàlisi del primer astrolabi amb caràcters llatins construït a Europa, que va ser elaborat a Barcelona agafant com a plantilla un astrolabi islàmic de Còrdova.
Els nostres estudiants també han pogut tocar i analitzat la rèplica d’un astrolabi del segle XV, oferint-los una visió dels més de 350 usos científics d’aquest instrument.
🔧 Exploració Pràctica: Seguint les aportacions històriques, els estudiants s’han posat mans a l’obra per construir els seus propis astrolabis de paper, tal com feien els nens d’estaments privilegiats a l’Europa del segle XIII. Amb aquesta experiència pràctica no només han aprofundit en la comprensió d’aquest instrument, sinó que també han fomentat les habilitats de treball en equip i resolució de problemes, creant un entorn d’aprenentatge dinàmic.
🏰 Aplicació al Món Real: Armats amb els seus astrolabis, els nostres estudiants han mesurat l’altura d’una torre de Canet. Aquesta aplicació pràctica de conceptes matemàtics en un entorn històric ha donat vida als temps medievals, creant una experiència d’aprenentatge immersiva i inoblidable pels nostres estudiants.
👏 Triomf Interdisciplinari: La iniciativa “Build your DIY Astrolabe. The Al-Andalus Legacy” exemplifica el poder de l’aprenentatge interdisciplinari, entrellaçant història en anglès, art i matemàtiques per crear una experiència educativa completa.

🌌 2nd ESO Graders Transported to the Xth Century with “Build your DIY Astrolabe & Al-Andalus Legacy” Project
In a captivating blend of history, arts, and mathematics, our 2nd ESO students have recently undertaken the “Build your DIY Astrolabe & Al-Andalus Legacy” project. This educational journey began with the analysis of the first astrolabe with latin characters built in Europe, crafted in Barcelona taking an islamic one from Cordoba as template. Our students have also explored a XVth century astrolabe replica, offering students a glimpse into the more of 350 scientific uses of astrolabes, and a connection to Al-Andalus’s rich legacy.
🔧 Hands-On Exploration: Following historical insights, students have rolled up their sleeves to construct their own astrolabes made of paper, as educated children in the XIIIth century Europe did. This hands-on experience not only deepened their understanding of this instrument but also nurtured teamwork and problem-solving skills, fostering a dynamic learning environment.
🏰 Real-World Application: Armed with their DIY astrolabes, our students have measured the height of the nearest medieval tower. This practical application of mathematical concepts in a historical setting has brought the medieval times to life, creating an unforgettable and immersive learning experience for our young historians, artists, and mathematicians.
