Els estudiants de batxillerat han aprofundit en qüestions polítiques clau com el dret de vot a partir dels 16 anys, els impostos sobre el carboni, el repartiment dels alumnes en classes segons el seu nivell, sancions i penes als discursos d’odi i desinformació a les xarxes socials, la introducció de quotes de gènere a les empreses i institucions públiques i la renda bàsica universal entre moltes altres.
Mitjançant la recerca en grup i les presentacions orals, els estudiants han explorat aquests temes. Utilitzant el segon condicional en anglès, han escrit arguments a favor i en contra d’aquestes reformes polítiques. Al final d’aquest treball en grup, els estudiants han ubicat aquests arguments en el vector del mapa polític del Regne Unit per veure si aquests arguments s’acosten a algun partit polític del Regne Unit.
Després d’aquesta extensa investigació i presentacions en grup, els estudiants han escrit individualment articles d’opinió. Aquest projecte no només ha aprofundit en la seva comprensió de la política britànica, sinó que també ha perfeccionat les habilitats de pensament crític i ha fomentat el diàleg constructiu entre els estudiants, una prova del seu compromís com a ciutadans informats.
La visita i les aportacions dels alumnes de Kansas ens ha permès de comparar aquest estat amb el nostre país pel que fa a aquestes qüestions.

A-level Students Tackle Key Political Issues during the visit of students from Kansas
A-level students delved into critical political topics such as voting rights at the age of 16, carbon taxes, dividing the students in classes according to their level, punishing hate speech and misinformation on social media, introducing gender quotas in companies and public boards and the universal basic income among many others.
Through group research and spoken presentations, students explored these topics. Using the second conditional, students imagined themselves as Prime Ministers, and wrote for and against arguments of these policy reforms. At the end of this group work, students place these arguments in the UK political map vector to see whether these arguments are closer to any political party of the UK, and whether these are right or left leaning arguments.
Following this extensive research and group presentations, students crafted individual opinion essays, synthesizing their findings and personal stances on each issue. This project hasn’t only deepened their understanding of British politics, but has also honed critical thinking skills and fostered constructive dialogue among students—a testament to their engagement and commitment as informed citizenship.
Having the visit of students from Kansas has allowed us to compare this state with our country on these issues.
