Visit to the Parc Astronòmic del Montsec and Àger

Last Thursday, we went to the planetarium of Ager, named PAM, which is an acronym for Parc Astronòmic del Montsec . We went there by bus and it took around forty minutes. The teachers that were with us were Elisenda, Gerard, Marc and Ginesta.

First, we went to Ager by bus. We arrived in PAM at a quarter past nine and we ate our breakfast in the middle of a forest. Once we were in the planetarium, they turned off the light to see a film about space, which was very interesting. The film was about the different planets of the Solar System, the black holes, the asteroids that exist and other information. Secondly, a man explained the Big Bang and the beginning of the universe using a calendar created by Carl Sagan. Later, we did an experiment using a balloon and a permanent marker to explain how the universe is currently expanding. Finally, after the film and the experiment, we visited Assumpció Català, that is, a telescope named after the first woman who became a doctor in Mathematics by the University of Barcelona in 1970.

Afterwards, we went to the small town of Ager. Using our class groups, we had to go to three different places: the ice well, the collegiate church of Sant Vicenç and a fountain. Once we were there, we did some English activities about our day and the planetarium. We also visited the town and discovered new places. Some of the new words we learnt were PAM, astronomical park and observatory, cosmos, eclipse, shooting star and so on.

To sum up, it was a visit which was very exciting because we learnt a lot of data related to the universe. However, it was extremely hot.
