Dublin is the city some of the students in ESO 3 will visit in June as a part of their Synthesis Project. Getting to know some of the most important Irish writers is one of the objectives the subject aims to reach this year.
Ireland has produced some of the greatest writers in literature and these masters have created works about Ireland, society, culture, family relationships, and personal events that have greatly influenced Ireland and the rest of the world.
During the 2nd Term, students in ESO 3 read the story Araby, a short text written by James Joyce, and a a first contact with the author of Ulysses for them.
After reading the story, these are the two tasks to tackle:
- Share information and your opinion about the story.
- Reflect on these two themes:
- Platonic Love: Have you ever had a crush on somebody? What have you done in order to see them or be near them? At what point did you realize that your dream person was unobtainable?
- Fallible adults: How did you react the first time yo discovered that someone you admired had “feet of clay”? Did this fact affect your view of the world?

My platonic love is Taylor Lautner, because he is handsome. He has helped people, he has given a lot of her money for children in Brasil. He played one of my favourite films, Twilight. He interpreted a human wolf in this saga. In the future I would like to meet him.
Angus Young is my platonic love, I love his style to play the guitar, I really like the sound of his guitar, it’s really his guitar (Gibson SG) and the amp he uses (Marshal JTM). He is one of the two guitar players in AC/DC, he plays the solo part.
For me, my mum is the best person I know, because she does a lot of things for my brother and me.
But, all the people make mistakes. And my mum one day, she said: “you can go to a big party …” and before one day of the party my mum told me: you don’t go, because you’re very young for this.
And I was angry because it was planned with my friends two weeks before.
For me, it was a mistake by my mum, although she is a very, very good person.
One day, my uncle said to me to go to Isla Fantasia. I was really excited, but I think that he didn’t realize.
I prepared all, the people who I wanted to go with, the day to go, etc…
And in the last moment, she said to me that she couldn’t go because she had broken her leg.
My first example and ideal person is Lionel Messi because he is a big sportsman, he is the best football player in the world for me because he plays football very well.
When Messi evaded money in taxes I was disappointed because I think that he has a lot of money and that he pays money but not a lot for him, because he has a lot of money. And he didn’t pay the little money he had to pay.
Someone I admire is Pau Gasol, he is a very good player for NBA, his place for basketball is pivot. He plays in Chicago Bulls, and his career got better and better, with his age, his retirement is near. He is my best player, he is a very good sportsman.
