La setmana passada, l’alumnat de Batxillerat va gaudir de dues xerrades en anglès molt dinàmiques, a càrrec de la Cristina Vargas, ponent de Nova York i representant de Burlington Books. L’activitat va tenir lloc a la biblioteca i va ser una experiència divertida, enriquidora i ideal per practicar l’anglès amb una parlant nativa. 
L’alumnat de segon de batxillerat va assistir a la sessió “All About Cinema”, un recorregut per la història del cinema a través de les pel·lícules més icòniques i taquilleres i dels diferents gèneres cinematogràfics. La xerrada va ser molt interactiva, amb un concurs de preguntes i respostes en el qual els estudiants podien guanyar premis si contestaven correctament. Amb elements inspirats en concursos televisius, la conferenciant va mantenir l’emoció amb els famosos comodins de “Qui vol ser milionari”: 50/50, preguntar al públic o, fins i tot, trucar “a la mare”, convertint l’activitat en una experiència tant educativa com entretinguda.
Per al grup de 1r de Batxillerat, Vargas va presentar “Great Women Writers”, una sessió dedicada a escriptores destacades de diferents èpoques i les seves obres. Igual que a la sessió sobre cinema, l’activitat va ser participativa i en format concurs, amb preguntes sobre literatura i premis per als encertants. Amb dades curioses, preguntes interactives i el carisma de la ponent els alumnes es van endinsar en la literatura i la llengua anglesa d’una manera divertida i inspiradora.

Last week, our Batxillerat students had the chance to enjoy two engaging English talks led by Cristina, a speaker from New York representing Burlington Books. The event took place in the library and proved to be a dynamic, fun, and enriching experience, perfect for practising English with a native speaker.
The 2nd Batxillerat students attended the session “All About Cinema”, which took them on a journey through the history of film, exploring the most iconic and highest-grossing movies, as well as the different film genres. The talk was highly interactive, featuring a quiz-style competition where students could win prizes by answering correctly. Using elements inspired by popular game shows, Cristina kept the excitement going with lifelines like 50/50, ask the audience, and even “call my mum”, making the experience both entertaining and educational.
For the 1st Batxillerat students, Cristina presented “Great Women Writers”, highlighting important female authors from different historical periods and their most remarkable works. Just like in the cinema session, students were actively involved through a quiz-style format, answering literature-related questions and winning small prizes. The session combined fun facts, interactive questions, and Cristina’s energetic storytelling, creating an engaging way to immerse in English while discovering inspiring female writers.
