Ambients CS: Leo-Bots

Did you know Leonardo da Vinci designed a humanoid ‘robot’?

This week we are featuring the Leo-Bot ‘ambient’ which we do in English. It’s called ‘Leo-Bots’ because we are making the most of the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci’s death to discover more about this inspiring inventor as well as discovering modern robots and how they differ from Leonardo’s design. Some of the activities we do during the sessions include programming the school’s new Dot and Dash robots using ‘Blockly’, a programming language similar to ‘Scratch’, to make them carry out tasks. We also assemble electric circuits to drive a motor as well as use an online simulator to build and test robots as a robotics engineer would.

Leonardo would be amazed!

Dash can play the xylophone

Dash with big ears! We can program it to move, stop or speak when it hears our voice.

We also use WeDo Lego kits to build and program robots to move, light up and produce sounds.
