Year 5 students have recently dived into the world of science in the English class. They got to observe plant cells from an onion using a microscope! But before, they had to master some content and skills. First, they learned about different lab materials and how to use them safely. Then, they discovered important lab rules and even made posters with the most important ones, using modal verbs like can, must, and should. After that, they explored all the parts of a microscope and what each part does.
Finally, the most exciting day arrived… observation day! Using future tenses and sequence connectors, Year 5 students made guesses about what the cells would look like and reviewed the steps to prepare their samples. Wearing gloves, they carefully got their onion samples ready for observation. What they saw through the microscope was truly unexpected! The shape of the cells, the position of the nucleus, and how organized they were was all a big surprise! Next week, they’ll compare these plant cells with animal cells.
L’alumnat de 5è s’ha capbussat recentment en el món de la ciència a la classe d’anglès. Han observat cèl·lules vegetals d’una ceba utilitzant un microscopi! Però abans, van haver de dominar alguns continguts i habilitats. Primer, van aprendre sobre els diferents materials de laboratori i com utilitzar-los de manera segura. Després, van descobrir normes importants del laboratori i fins i tot van fer pòsters amb les més importants, utilitzant verbs modals com can, must i should. Després d’això, van explorar totes les parts d’un microscopi i què fa cada part.
Finalment, va arribar el dia més emocionant… el dia de l’observació! Utilitzant temps futurs i connectors de seqüència, els estudiants de 5è van fer suposicions sobre com serien les cèl·lules i van repassar els passos per preparar les seves mostres. Posant-se guants, van preparar acuradament les mostres de ceba per a l’observació. El que van veure a través del microscopi va ser realment inesperat! La forma de les cèl·lules, la posició del nucli i com estaven d’organitzades va ser una gran sorpresa! La setmana que ve, compararan aquestes cèl·lules vegetals amb cèl·lules animals.
