The infant school ‘ambient’ we are focusing on this week is called ‘Let’s Pretend’. In these two sessions we use a shortened film version of a well-known story, ‘The Wizard of Oz’, to motivate the pupils to take part in various activities in English. Aside from the film clips, we use masks, pictures of the characters and scenes as well as an enormous yellow brick road to help re-enact Dorothy’s journey to Oz and back home again, making friends along the way.

On day one we act out the storm that transports Dorothy’s house to the land of Oz. Then we practice making friends like Dorothy does with the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Lion. Finally we all ‘follow the yellow brick road’ like the different characters do in the film until the bad witch uses her magic to make them fall asleep.

On day two we revise the story so far by acting out and playing games and we find out how the friends manage to wake up and carry their journey on to see the Wizard of Oz with the help of the good witch. The friends finally meet the Wizard who agrees to help them if they steal the bad witch’s broom…but you’ll have to watch this 80-year-old film to find out what happens in the end.

L’ambient d’Educació Infantil d’aquesta setmana es diu “Let’s Pretend”. En aquestes dues sessions fem servir una versió curta del conte “El Mag d’Oz”, per tal de motivar a l’alumnat perquè participi en les activitats proposades en llengua anglesa. A part dels clips de vídeo, també fem servir “flashcards”, màscares i un “yellow brick road” enorme per ajudar-nos a representar l’anada i tornada del viatge de la Dorothy a la terra d’Oz tot coneixent les amistats que forma pel camí.

El primer dia representem el tornado que transporta la casa de la Dorothy a Oz. Tot seguit practiquem com fer amics com fa la Dorothy amb el “Scarecrow”, el “Tin Man” i el “Lion”. Finalment tots seguim el camí de maons grocs com fan els personatges a la pel·lícula fins que la bruixa dolenta fa servir la seva màgia perquè quedin dormits.

El segon dia repassem, tot representant el conte i jugant jocs d’accions, i ens assabentem de com els amics aconsegueixen despertar-se i continuar el seu viatge amb l’ajuda de la bruixa bona. Per fi els amics coneixen el mag que els informa que només els ajudarà si roben l’escombra de la bruixa dolenta…però per saber més haureu de veure aquesta pel·lícula que, encara que no ho sembli, celebra el seu 80è aniversari aquest any.
