Leo-Bots

2019 is the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci’s death. He’s famous for his paintings, the inventions he drew in his notebooks and also for creating an early robot!

What is the difference between Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘robot’ and modern robots?

Let’s design a Leo-bot! A modern robot that Leonardo would be proud of.

Leonardo da Vinci was fascinated by nature and animals so he would probably like a robot that takes care of the environment. He was also a humanist so he would have liked to create a robot that would help people in their lives.

Think like Leonardo da Vinci and design a modern Leo-bot that can help people or the environment today.

To design a robot we will have to look at machines, electricity and programming.

Can you spot any simple machines behind some of Leonardo’s inventions? (An inclined plane, a wedge, a screw, a lever, a wheel and axle, gears and a pulley)

Click on the pictures below to play some games to find out more about simple machines.

Are you ready for ‘Challenge Robots’?

Use this simulator to train to be a roboticist and work for RoboWorks!

Meet Dot and Dash. These are a couple of the robots we are going to program.

We can program these robots using different languages.

Watch the videos to see how to program Dash with the ‘Wonder’ app.
