Hello, families!
I want to share the activities we do in class with you.
First of all, at the beginning of the class we encourage them to ask different questions related to the time or the weather. Click on the photo.
Other questions we ask are the ones which provide us with personal information. Click on the picture.
Secondly, we play Bingo in the class. I suppose you know how the game works. The teacher or one of the students shows some words while the others cover the words mentioned. Here you can see an example of the work done. Click on the picture.
We also like playing guessing games. They are very useful to put into practice certain grammar structures. In these games they pretend to hide a diamond or they choose a job.
Here you can see students in fourth grade working on verbs and adverbs.
A good way to teach prepositions is the PHOTO game. Students make sentences while the students try to follow the instructions. Click on the picture!
Let’s continue our trip through the English class. Another game we usually play is the shooter game. They make a circle with one student in the middle who points at a student. This person bends down while the people in both sides tries to say the name of the flashcard the other has got. Look how the game works. Click on the photo.
Other games we play are board games. We play them with different vocabulary items but here we talk about sports. Click on the picture.
When it comes to sports, we play lots of games for example miming them. Click on the picture.
Simon says is a game in which students understand the English language while miming the instructions. In this game they only do the action if Simon says it! Click on the picture.
Games never stop. There is another game in which the class becomes a city. Each part of the class is a building in a town.
In the English class we also sing songs and dance. Music and songs are very important when it comes to language learning.
With the third graders we sing songs like ‘I’m a pizza’ and ‘Do you like broccoli ice-cream?’ We also dance ‘The skeleton song’.
Here fourth graders are singing and dancing ‘The lemon tree song’.
We perform some dialogues and role games such as the shopping dialogue.

With the help of scaffolding grids we can make different funny sentences grammatically correct but following the choices of our students.
Here the students are describing their own bedrooms.
Though oral language is very important, written language is not forgotten in our classes and this term we are going to focus on it. By means of substitution grids we create stories and we make descriptions as well as other activities.
We also learn from books. We have a lot of interesting exercises in the work book. In our class book there are lots of stories they can read in pairs. Click on the pictures!
With the help of Marta, the Music teacher, we are using drama to develop oral language. Click on the photo!
We play card games like the one you are going to see now. Students read the verbs and adverbs on the card and perform the action.
We use videos for them to focus on comprehension and for example we use drawing tutorials to train the ear.
Finally, as you can see we do lots of activities. We also play games like who is who, I spy with my little eye, running and pair dictations, dominoes and board games like lynx.
Thanks for watching the videos.
