No sólo duelen los golpes

Last Wednesday 25th November, the students of 4th ESO went to Atrium, in Viladecans, to enjoy a monologue about gender violence.

A middle-aged woman told us her story with bits of humour, although it was a serious topic.

First, she explained how she met her first boyfriend. She was twelve and he was fourteen. They both danced break dance in the same park, so they started a relationship. She said that, at the beginning, he was very nice but later, he started to be overprotective: He didn’t let her dance at the competitions with him, because he didn’t want the other boys to look at her. Morevover, he made the girl change her clothes a lot of times but, after all, he was again the nicest person ever.

One day, he started to insult and hit her. it was too much. When she was 18, she went to another city to study, so they broke up. In college, she met a boy, who was exactly the opposite of her ex boyfriend. She was worried, because he was never jealous and he allowed her to do everything she wanted. As she thought it was not normal, due to the experience she had had, she thought he was cheating on her. They had a horrible argument and she broke his mobile phone. They were all the effects of the aggressive relationship she had lived with her first boyfriend. So, her rommmates took her to a psychologist to talk about all the things she had suffered. After this and when she had recovered, she met a very nice guy. They have been married for eight years now and they have two wonderful kids.

We all enjoyed the performance although it was shocking when she confessed that she tried to kill her twice.

At the end, the students had the opportunity to ask her some questions and we were all really sympathetic with her. We all learnt that No sólo duelen los golpes.
