The English department was very active in the first term of this school year. In October and November the students from 1st ESO to 2nd Batxillerat attended cultural conferences held by native speakers from Burlington publishing house.
On the 10th and 11th of October, the students of 3rd ESO went to an autumn camp in which they did play-oriented activities 100% in English. An experience that was positively appreciated both by the students and the teachers.
On the 16th November, the students of 4th ESO participated in a Scavenger’s Hunt: a treasure hunt in English, in the centre of Gironella, prepared by an external company with years of experience.
From the 19th to the 25th of November, some students of 2nd and 3rd ESO travelled to Athens to take part in an exchange program. For 7 days students lived with Greek families and took part in different activities such as visiting the awesome sightseeings of the city, discovering the everyday life of Greek students in their high school and learning about Greek culture. A nice bond was formed between Catalan and Greed students and it was a very beneficial experience. In April we are going to receive the Greek students in Gironella.
On Wednesday 20th December, the students of 1st and 2nd batxillerat went to Barcelona to take part in an urban escape room in English held in the Gothic quarter.
Throughout the first term and until the end of this school year, the students of 1st ESO will be collaborating with an Italian school to develop an eTwinning project. The project is about a cultural exchange to share experiences and make students aware of the similarities and differences between the Italian country and our own country.

El departament d’anglès ha estat molt actiu aquest primer trimestre. Durant els mesos d’octubre i novembre l’alumnat de primer d’ESO fins a 2n de batxillerat van assistir a unes xerrade culturals a càrrec de conferenciants nadius de l’editorial Burlington.
El 10 i 11 d’octubre, l’alumnat de 3r d’ESO van participar a l’atumn camp d’immersió lingüística fent activitats lúdiques 100% en anglès. Una experiència que es valora molt positivament tant per l’alumnat com pel professorat.
El 16 de novembre, l’alumnat de 4t d’ESO, va participar a l’activitat Scavenger’s Hunt, un joc de pistes en anglès al centre de Gironella gestiona per una empresa externa experta en activitats realitzades 100% en anglès.
Del 19 al 25 de novembre alguns alumnes de 2n i 3r d’ESO van participar a un intercanvi amb Grècia. Durant 7 dies l’alumnat va conviure amb una família grega i van realitzar diverses activitats: van visitar els indrets turístics més importants de la ciutat, van conèixer el dia a dia de l’alumnat grec a l’institut i amb les famílies, van descobrir la manera de fer i la cultura gregues i van poder gaudir d’una experiència molt enriquidora. A l’abril, rebrem els alumnes grecs a Gironella.
El dimecres 20 de desembre, l’alumnat de 1r i 2n de batxillerat han anat a Barcelona a fer un escape room a l’aire lliure, al barri gòtic, en anglès.
Durant tot el trimestre i fins a final de curs, l’alumnat de 1r d’ESO participa en un projecte eTwinning amb una escola d’Itàlia. El projecte consisteix en un intercanvi cultural fet en anglès per compartir experiències i veure similituds i diferències entre els dos països.
