Warm and Sweet Red Cabbage Stir-Fry

Hello, young cooks!
Remember last week when we made that yummy Swiss chard recipe from our school garden? This week, we’re using another colourful veggie we’ve grown—red cabbage! Let’s turn it into a warm, sweet, and cozy dish that’s perfect for sharing.

What You’ll Need:

2 cups of shredded red cabbage (ask an adult to help slice it!)
1 apple, chopped into small pieces
1 tablespoon of butter (or oil if you prefer)
1 tablespoon of honey or brown sugar (optional, for sweetness)
2 tablespoons of orange juice (or water if you don’t have orange juice)
A pinch of salt

Steps to Make It:

1. In a big pan, melt the butter over medium heat.
2. Add the shredded red cabbage and stir it around for 2-3 minutes until it starts to soften.
3. Add the chopped apple and cook for another 2 minutes.
4. Drizzle the honey (or sprinkle the brown sugar) over the top, then pour in the orange juice. Stir everything together.
5. Put a lid on the pan and let it cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring sometimes, until the cabbage and apple are soft and juicy.
6. Sprinkle a tiny pinch of salt, stir one last time, and it’s ready to eat!

Serving Tip:
This warm dish is perfect for the colder weather, just like last week’s Swiss chard recipe was a hit! You can enjoy it on its own or with rice, mashed potatoes, or bread.
