ENGLISH: Last week, our school had the pleasure of welcoming two teachers from OŠ Primoža Trubarja Laško, located in the city of Laško, in the Savinjska region, in the Western Alps of central Slovenia. They were Ms. Tanja Vrhovšek, a 3rd grade tutor, and Ms. Olga Hrastnik, an English language specialist teacher.
The connection between our two schools began with an eTwinning project launched in the 2022-23 school year with our 3rd grade students (who are now in 1st year of secondary school!). Since then, we have continued to collaborate every year with the 3rd grade groups of both schools, and this year we are starting the 4th edition. This project is highly motivating for the children, encouraging them to communicate in English and fostering a sense of European citizenship—something we are very proud of and eager to continue.
During their stay, our guests were also welcomed at the Town Hall, where they were able to learn first-hand about the functioning of the Children’s Council and the preparation of the Congress of Educating Cities, which will take place during the 2025-2026 school year.
This year, our 3rd grade pupils launched the project by meeting their partners in a videocall and signing their certificate of commitment to the project “Lights, camera and… action!”, which traveled to Slovenia in the suitcases of Olga and Tanja and, as of today, has already been signed by our Slovenian partners. We are very excited and convinced that this new year of joint work will allow us to learn a lot and enjoy the experience together.
