On Monday 22 April the premiere of the drama play A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens, took place. It was performed by our 1st year high level students (called Batxillerat escènic in Catalan). It was directed by teachers Clàudia Gimènez and Emigdi Subirats. The students had been training very hard it since October. They had a great performance, which was highly enjoyed by our students in the third course of Compulsory education (3r ESO in Catalan).
A Christmas Carol is a novel by famous writer Charles Dickens, first published in London in 1843. It recounts the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, an elderly miser who is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come. In the process, Scrooge is transformed into a kinder, gentler man. Dickens wrote it during a period when the British were exploring and re-evaluating past Christmas traditions, including carols, and newer customs such as cards and Christmas trees. He was influenced by the experiences of his own youth.
