On Thursday 31st October we celebrated Halloween. Some students and teachers dressed up and participated in the activities proposed by the departament of foreign languages.
Although the lessons carried on as normal, it was a very special, “horrific” and fun day that we all enjoyed very much.

Dijous passat vam celebrar Halloween. Alguns alumnes i professors es van disfressar i van participar en les activitats proposades pel departament de Llengües Estrangeres.
Tot i que les classes es van desenvolupar amb normalitat, va ser un dia molt especial, “terrorífic” i divertit que a tots ens va agradar molt.

What is Halloween?
The word Halloween itself is a Scottish term for All Hallows Eve – basically, the evening before All Saints’ Day. The tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, which was a day held to honour the end of the harvest season and means “summer’s end”, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts.Over time, Halloween evolved into a day of activities like trick-or-treating, donning costumes and eating treats and carving jack-o-lanterns.
Què és Halloween?
La paraula Halloween en si és un terme escocès per a All Hallows Eve, bàsicament, el vespre abans del dia de Tots Sants. La tradició va tenir el seu origen en l’antiga festa celta de Samhain, que era un dia per honorar el final de la temporada de collita i significa “final d’estiu”, quan la gent encenia fogueres i portava vestits per tal d’allunyar els fantasmes. Amb el temps, Halloween ha evolucionat cap a un dia d’activitats festives com truc-o-tracte, vestir disfresses, menjar caramels i tallar llanternes amb carabasses.
