INS CELRÀ introduced CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) in the high school in 2016 taking part of the GEP programme (Grup d’Experimentació pel Plurilingüisme) supported by the Education Department of Catalonia. Several teachers have been trained in CLIL since then and the methodology has been applied in subjects as Social Science, Music, Arts, Technology, Physical Education, Natural Science and Maths. CLIL teachers from the INS Celrà are members of a common online platform created to share experiences and materials.
The main aim is students learn specific contents of a subject through the medium of a foreign language, so they can expose to the language without requiring extra time in the curriculum. An approach to bilingual education in which both curriculum and English are taught together.
