Do you know that 6,000 years ago, a group of settlers were digging the earth, creating a network of 200 hectares of mines to extract a mysterious green mineral, variscite, which they used to make jewelry? We have been learning about prehistory and we have visited the Neolithic mines of Gavà, the oldest gallery mines in Europe, to know more things about this important period.
The miners reused some cavities to burt the dead. They also left behind everyday waste of great value for understanding how the communities that lived in Gavà during the Neolithic period were, and what the surrounding landscape was like.
We have become prehistoric people for a day and we have made a jewelry workshop. What a great experience!
Sabeu que ara fa 6.000 anys, un grup de pobladors varen estar excavant la terra fins a crear un entramat de mines de 200 hectàrees per extreure’n un misteriós mineral de color verd, la variscita, que usaven per fer joies? Hem estat treballant la prehistòria i hem hem visitat les mines Neolítiques de Gavà, les més antigues d’Europa, per aprendre més coses sobre aquest període.
Els miners i mineres reutilitzaren algunes cavitats per enterrar-hi els morts. També per deixar-hi les deixalles del dia a dia, d’un valor incalculable per conèixer com eren les comunitats que van viure a Gavà al neolític i com era el paisatge que les envoltava.
Ens hem convertir en persones de la prehistòria per un dia i hem fet un taller de joieria. Quina experiència més fantàstica!
