INICI DEL PROJECTE ERASMUS+ “SCIENCE GIRLS”
“Els dies 7 i 8 de novembre es va iniciar un Erasmus+ en el qual participa el nostre institut juntament amb l’EXPLORATORI dels recursos de la natura de la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). La professora Dolors Grau (UPC Manresa-Enginyeria Química) i el professor Miquel Sabata (Guillem de Berguedà- Dept. Sanitat) van viatjar fins a Barrow-in-Furness (Anglaterra) per participar en la primera reunió del projecte anomenat “Science Girls”. Allà hi va haver la trobada amb participants de 7 països europeus més (Anglaterra, Letònia, Romania, Turquia, Itàlia, Grècia i Eslovènia) per tal de posar les bases del treball que durarà dos anys i que culminarà la primavera del 2018 amb una trobada final a Barcelona i a Berga.
Del Guillem de Berguedà iniciaran el projecte 11 noies de 3r d’ESO amb l’ajuda addicional de la professora Maribel Jodar i el Departament d’anglès. Per part de l’EXPLORATORI-UPC, hi participarà també el professor Josep Font (UPC-Manresa d’Enginyeria de Mines).
A partir d’aquesta setmana començaran diverses activitats relacionades amb el món de la ciència amb l’objectiu de conèixer per què les noies són minoritàries en els estudis universitaris relacionats amb la ciència i quines possibles solucions poden haver-hi per millorar-ho. Tot el treball es publicarà a nivell europeu per tal que les escoles de secundària i universitats puguin utilitzar els treballs i conclusions per engrescar futures noies en l’estudi d’aquestes carreres universitàries. La propera trobada serà els dies 9 i 10 de març a Grècia per acabar aquesta fase del projecte i iniciar la següent.

ERASMUS+ “SCIENCE GIRLS” PROJECT STARTS
On 7th and 8th November an Erasmus+ project started. Our Secondary School participates in this project together with L’EXPLORATORI (the Nature Resources Explorer Project) of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). Professor Dolors Grau (UPC Manresa- Chemistry Engineering Dept.) and teacher Miquel Sabata (Guillem de Berguedà-Health Department) travelled to Barrow-in-Furness (England) in order to participate in the first meeting of the project which is called “Science Girls”. In Barrow the meeting was held with other participants from 7 different European countries (England, Latvia, Romania, Turkey, Italy, Greece and Slovenia) with the objective of setting the bases of the two-year project. The end of the project is going to be in Barcelona and Berga in 2018 Spring with a final meeting.
Eleven 3rd ESO girls are going to start the project with the additional help of the teacher Maribel Jodar (Nature Science Department) and the English Language Department. Moreover, professor Josep Font (UPC Manresa-Mining Industry Engineering) is going to participate in the project, too. He is also involved in the EXPLORATORI project.
Next week they are going to start several activities related to the science world with the objective of knowing why girls are minority in science degrees studies and what possible solutions can be found. The full project is going to be published so that it could be used by Secondary Schools and Universities around Europe to engage future girls in science degrees. Next meeting is going to be held in Greece on 9th and 10th March with the objective of ending this phase and starting the next one.
