Presentation

The Mercè Rodoreda High School is to participate in a project exchange with Prohászka Ottokar High School, in Györ, Hungary, during the current scholar year 2016-17.

The project is called “All talkie” and aims to become an annual activity offered by our center. Its main objective is to promote the exchange of students and the learning of the English language, as well as the possibility of knowing the reality of a school and a country of the European Union.

The institute Prohászka Ottokar Györ, Hungary

Györ is a quiet city in the northwest of Hungary, halfway between Vienna and Budapest. It has about 130,000 inhabitants. The center Prohászka Ottokar offers primary and secondary education and is located at the center of the city.

All Talkie” Project local team

Several Merce Rodoreda’s teachers from different subjects and levels are involved in this programme. Two of them are English teachers and others carry out some subjects or part of them in English language, using the methodology CLIL.

All Talkie” Project vehicular language

The working language of the project is English. In this sense, there will be the possibility of establishing contacts with students from other European centers via Facebook and Skype, so participants know other students and practicing the language.

mobilities

Mobility in Györ

The project includes a trip to Györ in October 2016. During the journey, there will be several activities at school and students will enjoy the experience of sharing some days with host families, with whom they will reside and enjoy the weekend. The stay will last six days and five nights, from Wednesday to Monday.

Mobility in L’Hospitalet

Hungarian students will visit L’Hospitalet in February 2017. Then, we will become host students and teachers of the other school and thus we will develop a of activities, workshops, exhibitions, conferences and similar events offered by the school abroad. The visiting students will reside at home with the local students who visited Györ students in October 2016.

Principle of reciprocity

The mobility of students is governed by the principle of reciprocity. This means that the families of the students participating in the exchange agree to host a Hungarian student when they visit us and take care of its maintenance and care outside school hours.

However, if you want to host a Hungarian students despite the fact your son/daughter has not participated in the mobility to Györ, you can do so.

If the aspiring number of participating students in the mobility to Györ is higher than the number of host families in Hungary, partipant students will be chosen by lottery.

Selection of students

To ensure the completion of academic activities, participating students are expected to have a minimum level of English. Hence we have established a series of academic requirements to participate:

  • minimum qualification of 6 over 10 in English in the previous scholar year

  • lack of serious offenses behavioral transcript

When visiting the other school, teachers and students will actively participate in the life of the center, organizing various activities, workshops and presentations, as well as representing the center of origin. This means students must use English consistently.

Expenses

Families wishing to participate must pay the travel expenses of their children. This includes:

  • Transport to Györ

  • Travel insurance

  • Cultural activities carried out in the institute and the host city

  • Personal expenses

Expenses included

  • Maintenance runs by the host family.

We encourage you to participate in this project. It will certainly be very rewarding for our entire school community!
