It’s Halloween time!!!

As it has become usual in the last years, the Foreign Languages Department in our school held the traditional Pumpkin Carving Contest last week to celebrate one of the most ancient British traditions: Halloween . Halloween or Hallowe’en is now celebrated across the world on the night of 31st October but Halloween’s origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. It was believed by the Celts that on the night of 31st October, ghosts of their dead would revisit the mortal world and large bonfires were lit in each village in order to ward off any evil spirits that may also be at large .
We would like to thank all the participants who took part in the contest. As you can see, their carved pumpkins were as terrifying , funny and original as always. It was a real challenge for the jury to choose the winners among these terrific pumpkins!!!!
And our special thanks to the Art Department for their help and selfless collaboration.
