Pancake day

This afternoon, the whole school came together to celebrate Pancake Day.

Last week, during English sessions, we learnt about the history and traditions of this special day, and today we were excited to finally experience it ourselves.

The 4th grade students took the lead by giving us a brief explanation about the significance of Pancake Day and shared some interesting facts with us. They were also responsible for preparing everything.

We had a wonderful time enjoying delicious pancakes topped with chocolate, and it was a perfect way to end the day. Everyone had a great time, and it was a fun, tasty way to celebrate this tradition!

What is Pancake day?

Pancake Day, also known as Shrove Tuesday, is a traditional celebration in the UK and other countries. It takes place the day before Ash Wednesday, marking the start of Lent, a period of 40 days before Easter.

People eat pancakes on this day because, in the past, it was a way to use up rich ingredients like eggs, butter, and sugar before fasting for Lent. Today, it is a fun tradition where families and friends enjoy pancakes together. Some places even hold pancake races, where participants run while flipping pancakes in a pan!
