Last November the children in Vilaplana and L’Aleixar did an activity which usually is very enjoyable for them. They had to create (with the help of their parents) some Jack O’Lanterns (Halloween lanterns) and bring them to the school to decorate the school in order to celebrate this holiday, which is not traditional in Catalonia, but that everyday becomes more popular among children everywhere.
The kids in both schools proved their creativity and brought Jack O’Lanterns in all sizes and types of faces. Then, on 31st October we made a special exhibition so the children from other classrooms could see them, and we even put a lit candle in them to give them a ghastlier touch. Some of them became really spooky in the darkness!!
So, this year, among Panellets and “castanyes” the children have been able to enjoy a touch of English culture in their classrooms, which is always a good thing.
