Joshua has taught about the healthcare system in the United States. After initially not being very interested in the lesson, students were shocked to learn that the United States has the most expensive healthcare system in the world. There is no system of universal healthcare so Americans must buy their own insurance plan and pay for medical visits themselves. Some employers provide private health insurance to their employees, but it is not guaranteed. For that reason, many citizens don’t have health insurance and some cannot afford to pay expensive hospital bills if they have an emergency. Many students were bewildered at the cost of simple operations and even how it costs to deliver a baby!
