Running dictation

Students of 2nd of ESO have been practising a running dictation, which covers reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. The text they have been using is an extract from Anne of Green Gables, by L.M. Montgomery.

Students worked together in teams of two: a reader and a writer. The reader had to stand, run to the table, and read a bit of the text, then he ran back to the writer’s table, which was situated on the opposite side of the classroom, and told them the sentence. They were allowed to run back and have another look and come back to the writer until the team had all lines written down on their paper. Once they were done, they checked their own writing from the text and the team with the least mistakes was the winner. After that they swapped roles and played again. As a teacher, I checked the accuracy of the task, and students filled out their spelling mistakes and their corrections on their notebooks so that they learn from the mistakes. All in all, they had fun while practising English in the classroom.
