Saint Patrick’s day, March 17th

These days in class we have been working on the celebration of Saint Patrick’s Day. We learned that it is celebrated on March 17th and that it is an important holiday in Ireland. We talked about who Saint Patrick was and why he is the patron saint of Ireland. We also discovered some of the symbols of this celebration, such as the shamrock, leprechauns, and the color green.

During the activities we learned about Irish traditions, food… and we saw how people celebrate this day in Ireland and in other countries. We also did different activities related to the holiday, which helped us practice English while learning about Irish culture.

We also discovered some curious facts. For example, in Chicago they dye the river green to celebrate this special day. Another fun legend says that if you catch a leprechaun, you will have good luck and he might give you his pot of gold!

It has been a fun and interesting way to learn about another culture and enjoy this special celebration together.
