Exploring Creativity: Our Fun and Interactive Line Drawing Workshop

At Escola El Solell, we are always looking for ways to inspire creativity and nurture artistic talent among our students. This term, we have introduced a fantastic new Line Drawing Workshop, designed to encourage students to explore the beauty of geometric forms, precision, and creativity. The workshop, taught entirely in English, takes place on Thursday afternoons over two exciting sessions.

What’s the Workshop About?

In this particular workshop, students delve into the art of line drawing, using simple tools like a compass, ruler, pencil, and colored pencils to create a striking optical illusion. This exercise is not only fun, but also helps students improve their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness—all essential elements in drawing and design.

The goal of the workshop is to teach students how to create stunning visual effects by combining straight lines and curves in precise patterns. Using the compass and ruler, they draw perfect circles and lines, and with a clever use of color, they give their artwork a three-dimensional appearance. The result? A mesmerizing optical illusion that surprises both the artist and the viewer!

This workshop isn’t just about creating a cool effect; it’s about developing a love for art, improving concentration, and learning how math and art intersect in fascinating ways. Students of year 5 and year 6 are the ones that will join it.

By the end of the two sessions, students will have a piece of artwork they can be proud of, and more importantly, they will have gained new skills in precision drawing, geometric composition, and creative problem-solving.
