This week we have had a cultural exchange thanks to our dearest language assistant, Daniella. As she is from the United States, she has explained how Halloween is celebrated from first-hand experience. Students were delighted to listen to the origins of this festival, how houses are decorated and the typical candies, food and so on. Moreover they could ask Daniella questions after the presentation.
Then the students approached Daniella to the Catalan tradition of Castanyada as she didn’t know anything about it. They explained what we celebrate in La Castanyada and in All Saints Day and the typical desserts: chestnuts and “panellets”. She enjoyed the presentation and she could taste “panellets”, which she found delicious!
Aquesta setmana hem tingut un intercanvi cultural gràcies a la nostra estimada auxiliar de conversa, la Daniella. Aprofitant que és dels Estats Units ens ha explicat com celebren el Halloween de primera mà. Els i les alumnes han estat encantats d’escoltar els orígens d’aquesta festivitat, com es decoren les cases i els dolços més típics, entre d’altres aspectes. A més han pogut preguntar a la Daniella qualsevol dubte o curiositat.
Després hem acostat la Daniella a la nostra cultura i li hem explicat què és la Castanyada, ja que no ho coneixia. Els i les alumnes li han explicat què celebrem aquests dies de Castanyada i tots sants i, sobretot, les postres típiques: les castanyes i els panellets. La Daniella ha gaudit molt de la presentació i ha pogut tastar els panellets. Els ha trobat deliciosos!
