17 – 18 Let’s Promote Diversity – The EDL

TITLE

LET’S PROMOTE DIVERSITY- The European Day of Languages

BRIEF SUMMARY

The aim of the project is to celebrate the European Day of Languages together in an international way. We are going to work on different tasks to promote intercultural dialogue through different forms of learning and students’ cooperation. The project will prove that ICT and teamwork can add to pupils’ motivation and involvement in language lessons as well as enhance critical thinking and social, civic and intercultural competences. In the project teachers also can exchange their ideas how to organise the EDL at school as well as to share interesting ways for classes promoting cultural and linguistic diversity. During the implementation of the project, the students will make new friends, they will increase their awareness of the worth of their and others’ cultural heritage.
Students will make postcards for every partner school and record themselves speaking and singing in their own beautiful languages, but they are also free to choose among a number of volunteer activities.

AIMS

The main aim of this project is to raise awareness of the Europe’s rich linguistic diversity and encourage lifelong language learning in and out of school. It is our intention that students are exposed and familiarize with the sounds and the alphabet of other European languages, develop their creativity and learn about other European countries in a fun way.

WORK PROCESS

Every school will make one postcard for each of the partner schools with 3 sentences in the first language and in English. The postcards have to be posted until the 16th of September, so every school gets them on time for the EDL celebration. Photos of the postcards will be uploaded on the Twinspace. The project will be full of additional activities:

  • posters exchange
  • videoconrerences
  • singing together (a compilation of songs in our national lgs)
  • videos exchange
  • pictures, logos, posters exchange
  • Greetings in our national languages on Padlet
  • collaboartive tasks such as: a presentation in Prezi, one poster online done together, voice recordings in Vocethread
  • exchange of QR codes

Besides, each school is invited to visit the “Submit your idea” section on the Twinspace and share with the rest of its partners their plans on how to celebrate EDL.

EXPECTED RESULTS

Our project will provide each partner school with the materials (postcards, songs, recordings, etc.) to celebrate the European Day of Languages in their own unique way and give students the satisfaction of helping each other with the preparations for the event.
