A PROJECT TO REMEMBER THE HOLOCAUST VICTIMS…

On the occasion of the Holocaust Memorial Day (Jan. 27th), our 3rd ESO students were introduced with the inspiring story of the Veseli family in their split classes, by working on a content-based project designed by their English teacher Montse Albareda.

Basically, after a brief introduction to some content related vocabulary, this group project involved a broad reading activity in which our students had to put the paragraphs of the story of the Veseli family in order. This way they could learn that the Veseli family was an Albanian Muslim family, who decided to shelter a Jewish photographer called Moshe Mandil and his family from the Nazis despite the dangers that this action would entail.

As a final activity, our students also had to guess an ending to the story based on what they had previously read just before they could get to know the true ending from their teachers.

Some students were very relieved to know that the story fortunately had a happy ending!
