Welcome, Laura!

This year Laura has come to the Institut Moianès to help with the English classes as a conversation assistant. Her job is to support the English teachers in the classroom with activities to help the students develop their English speaking skills. Laura is very nice and we’ve done an interview to learn more about her.

– Hello Laura! We are two students from the magazine, can we ask you some questions?

– Hi! Of course.

– How old are you?

– I am twenty-nine years old.

– Where are you from?

– I’m from London.

– What did you work in London?

– I worked as a journalist. I wrote for a newspaper and later I worked for a charity which campaigns for the rights of disabled people.

– Why did you want to come here?

–  This is a new and exciting adventure for me. I came here to learn the culture, language, music of here…  I hope I will be able to teach the students lots of interesting things about life in the UK and help them improve their English.

– Do you like Moià?

– Yes, I like it a lot, because the landscape is very beautiful and the people are very friendly. Everyone has been incredibly welcoming and friendly towards me since I arrived in Moià just a few days ago. It’s clearly a very special and beautiful place and I can’t wait to get more involved in the community here.

– What is your hobby?

– Playing the saxophone. I love music.

– I will be at the school for the next eight months and I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible during that time. So if you see me around, feel free to say hello – although be warned that I don’t speak any Catalan or Spanish! Thank you. See you soon.

Benvinguda, Laura!

Aquest any la Laura ha vingut a l’Institut Moianès per ajudar a les classes d’anglès com a assistent de conversa. La seva feina conisteix a donar suport als professors d’anglès a l’aula amb activitats per ajudar els estudiants a desenvolupar les seves habilitats de conversa en anglès. La Laura és molt amable i li hem fet una entrevista per saber més sobre ella.

– Hola, Laura! Som dues estudiants de la Revista, podem fer-te algunes preguntes?

– Hola! És clar.

– Quants anys tens?

– Tinc 29 anys.

– D’on ets?

– Soc de Londres.

– De què treballaves a Londres?

– Treballava com a periodista. Escrivia per a un diari i més tard per a una organització benèfica que fa campanya pels drets de les persones amb discapacitat.

– Per què vas voler venir aquí?

– És una aventura nova i apassionant per mi. Vaig venir per aprendre la cultura, l’idioma, la música d’aquí… Espero ser capaç d’ensenyar als estudiants moltes coses sobre la vida al Regne Unit i ajudar-los a millorar el seu anglès.

– T’agrada Moià?

– Sí, m’agrada molt, perquè el paisatge és molt bonic i la gent és molt amistosa. Tothom m’ha donat una benvinguda increïble i amistosa des que vaig arribar a Moià fa uns dies. És clarament un lloc molt especial i bonic i tinc moltes ganes d’involucrarme més a la comunitat d’aquí.

– Quines aficions tens?

– Tocar el saxofon. M’encanta la música.

– Moltes gràcies, Laura, ens veiem per aquí!

– Seré a l’institut durant els següents vuit mesos i espero conèixer a tants de vosaltres com sigui possible durant aquest temps. Així que si em veieu per aquí, sentiu-vos lliures de saludar-me. Però us aviso que no parlo gens de català o castellà! Gràcies. Ens veiem aviat!
