From 9th to 13th February, our school celebrated English Week, a vibrant programme of activities designed to immerse students from ESO and Batxillerat in the English language through culture, literature, music and interactive challenges. Although some sessions had to be postponed due to strong winds and the temporary closure of the school, the enthusiasm remained high. The cancelled activities will take place during April so that all students can fully enjoy the experience.
To start the week, 1st ESO students explored fascinating texts about English-speaking countries, discovering new cultures while improving their reading skills. They also took part in Sing Along!, a lively musical session where they sang their favourite English songs together — practising pronunciation, building confidence and enjoying the language in a fun and dynamic way.
For 2nd ESO, the programme included an exciting escape-room style challenge inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Students worked in teams to solve puzzles, crack codes and use English actively in order to “escape”. They also learned about key aspects of the history and culture of the United Kingdom, combining literature, teamwork and cultural awareness.
Moving on to 3rd ESO, students faced thrilling escape games with puzzles, codes and team challenges, alongside creative speaking tasks and interactive classroom activities designed to expand vocabulary and fluency. From 2nd to 7th March, they are going to travel to Dublin for Cultural Week, where they will practise English in real-life contexts while discovering Irish culture and heritage.
Finally, 4th ESO students participated in the project “Haunted Voices”, exploring classic Victorian ghost stories. They analysed eerie atmospheres, supernatural warnings and Gothic literary techniques, deepening their understanding of the tradition and enhancing their literary skills.
English Week once again proved that language learning goes far beyond the classroom — it is about creativity, collaboration and cultural discovery.
