Last days in Ireland

On Wednesday we continued our Irish adventure by immersing ourselves in the country’s rich cultural heritage. The day started with a workshop on Irish culture through music, where we explored traditional songs and learned new vocabulary by following the lyrics. Later, we tested our knowledge in a table quiz about Ireland, covering topics from history to geography. The afternoon was dedicated to Gaelic football, a unique Irish sport that combines elements of soccer and rugby. We learned the basics and enjoyed a friendly match in the rain, embracing the energetic spirit of the game.
Thursday took us to Craggaunowen, an open-air museum in County Clare that showcases Ireland’s ancient past. We explored reconstructed Celtic dwellings and artifacts, gaining insight into early Irish life. In the afternoon, we visited Limerick City, known for its medieval architecture and vibrant culture where students had time to explore on their own. Some highlights of the day included King John’s Castle, a 13th-century fortress offering panoramic views of the River Shannon, and St. Mary’s Cathedral, the oldest building in Limerick still in use. We also strolled through the historic Milk Market, sampling local produce and crafts.
On our final day, we packed our bags and travelled to Galway, a city renowned for its lively arts scene and picturesque streets. We explored the bustling streets, and visited the most important landmarks. After a memorable day, we made our way to the airport and boarded our flight back home, concluding an enriching journey through Ireland.
And that’s a wrap! This trip offered a comprehensive experience of Ireland’s rich cultural heritage. From the musical traditions and sports to the ancient history and vibrant city life, we immersed ourselves in the essence of the Emerald Isle. Each destination provided unique insights and unforgettable memories, making this journey a truly enriching adventure!
