Y1 and Y2 Massalcoreig and Llardecans students are learning about materials. Why do objects sink or float? Which materials float? Which ones sink?
In this activity, children play, experiment, and discover what types of objects float and sink in water during a hands-on activity.
What did students do? Each of them looked for 2 objects that float on water and 2 objects that sink in water at school and put them in a washbowl with water in order to know if they sink or float.
After that, we talked about all the objects that sink in the water and the ones that float on it. Their conclusions were:
- Plastic, wood and rubber float on water
- Metal and glass sink in water
- Cotton and wool float on water, but when they absorb water, they sink in it.

Els alumnes de cicle inicial de Massalcoreig i de Llardecans estan aprenent sobre els materials. Per què els objectes s’enfonsen o floten? Quins materials suren? Quins materials s’enfonsen?
En aquesta activitat, els alumnes juguen, experimenten i descobreixen quins tipus d’objectes suren i s’enfonsen a l’aigua durant una activitat pràctica.
Què van fer els alumnes? Cadascun d’ells va buscar a l’escola 2 objectes que suren i 2 objectes que s’enfonsen i els van posar en un gibrell d’aigua per tal de saber si s’enfonsaven o suraven.
Després, vam parlar sobre tots els objectes que s’enfonsen a l’aigua i dels que hi suren. Les seves conclusions van ser:
- El plàstic, la fusta i la goma floten sobre l’aigua.
- El metall i el vidre s’enfonsen en l’aigua.
- El cotó i la llana floten a l’aigua però quan s’empapen s’enfonsen.
