Halloween and Castanyada

In the Joan Solà high school we celebrate Halloween and Castanyada every year.

Halloween is a traditional celebration from England. In Halloween we do trick or treat, which consists of asking for candies in the houses. We celebrated Halloween in Joan Solà on 30th of October.

Castanyada is a traditional celebration in Catalonia. It consists of eating chestnuts and cooking “panellets”, a special food of Castanyada made with almonds. We also celebrated Castanyada on 30th of October.

In our school we celebrated it doing activities like making a paper skeleton, eating chestnuts and finally the students of 1st ESO did a spelling competition and a pumpkin competition.

The winners of the competition won a prize (a cinema ticket)
