WOMEN’S WRITERS DAY (17th October)

The group of ANGLÈS 3M did research about  Women Writers Day, talked about an important book written by a woman and read a piece of it. Here is some information about their task.

Women writers Day is an annual celebration that is held on the Monday closest to October 15, commemorating the date of the death of the writer Santa Teresa de Jesús. Santa Teresa de Jesus, patron saint of Spanish Writers, was proclaimed saint by Saint Pablo VI in 1965.

This celebration is a way to recover the word of women writers who in their texts reflect feelings, searches and struggles. Brave women whose work, on many occasions, has been ignored. Rescuing her voice today is an act of justice and recognition towards all of them. This is the seventh year that it is celebrated

By the way, do you know that many women write with male nicknames to hide that their books are written by them? And that on these dates book publishers give their annual awards in women’s writers honor, for example: the Planeta Award?
