El passat dilluns 4 de març, l’alumnat de 4t d’ESO ha pogut gaudir d’una conferència impulsada
conjuntament pel Departament d’Educació (Servei de Llengües Estrangeres i d’Origen) i el
Consolat dels Estats Units.
La conferència, amb la temàtica “Com esdevenir científic”, l’ha ofert l’estudiant de Doctorat
David Boettger del Departament de Neurociència de la Universitat de Michigan que
actualment gaudeix d’una beca Fulbright per completar els seus estudis a l’”Institute for
Research Biomedecine” de Barcelona.
Durant la conferència en David ha pogut explicar com és el seu país d’origen, les diferències
amb casa nostra i l’organització del sistema educatiu als EEUU. També ha pogut explicar a
l’alumnat quin és el seu camp de recerca actual al laboratori del Dr. Marco Milán de
neurodesenvolupament.
Esperem que la conferència hagi animat a l’alumnat a emprendre el camí de la recerca i a
obrir-los noves possibilitats d’estudis a l’estranger en etapes properes.
On Monday the 4th of March, students from 4th of ESO had the chance to enjoy a
conference which was jointly organized by the Education Department
(Foreign Languages Service) and the United States Consulate.
The conference "How to become a scientist" was offered by the PhD candidate
David Boettger, from the Neuroscience Department of the University of
Michigan, who has recently been awarded with a Fulbright scholarship to
complete his research in the Institute for Research Biomedecine in Barcelona.
Throughout the conference, students learn about the USA, the differences
between his country and where he lives now, as well as the difference in terms
or organization and educational system. He also explained his current field of
research in the lab with PhD Marco Milán, from the neurodevelopment
department.
We hope that the conference has boosted the students’ interest in the path of
research, opening new possibilities to study abroad in the near future.
