L’alumnat de 2n de Batxillerat D està desenvolupant un treball acadèmic i creatiu d’homenatge a Zoraida Burgos, la gran poeta tortosina que ens va deixar en començar l’any nou. Aquest projecte neix amb la voluntat de reconèixer la seva trajectòria literària, el seu compromís amb la llengua i la cultura, i també la seva tasca com a traductora de textos de gran valor històric i social.
Un dels eixos centrals del treball ha estat la figura de Burgos com a mediadora cultural. En aquest sentit, l’alumnat ha realitzat la traducció de Letter from the Birmingham Jail de Martin Luther King en homenatge pòstum a la poeta, ja que ella mateixa havia traduït aquest document fonamental del moviment pels drets civils. Es tracta d’un dels textos antiracistes més importants de la història, on King defensa la lluita no violenta contra la segregació i la injustícia.

Paral·lelament, també han treballat el poema Convivència d’aigües, que ha estat traduït i interpretat com a part de l’homenatge. El poema va ser recitat en català i en anglès per l’alumne Pablo Moreno, amb l’acompanyament musical a la guitarra de Júlia Redó, creant un moment artístic que uneix literatura, música i consciència social, tot reforçant el valor simbòlic de la paraula de Zoraida Burgos.
A més de la traducció escrita, l’alumnat ha analitzat el document de Martin Luther King en anglès i ha realitzat una activitat de resum oral, treballant la comprensió, l’expressió i la reflexió crítica sobre el contingut del text. Aquest procés no només reforça la competència lingüística, sinó que també fomenta el pensament ètic i la sensibilització davant el racisme i la desigualtat.
Com a part final del projecte, es durà a terme l’enregistrament en vídeo complet d’un dels documents antiracistes més rellevants de la història, amb l’objectiu de donar-li una nova veu des de l’aula i de continuar difonent els valors de justícia, llibertat i convivència que tant Martin Luther King com Zoraida Burgos van defensar al llarg de la seua obra.
Aquest treball esdevé així un projecte interdisciplinari que uneix llengua, literatura, música i consciència social, i que converteix l’aula en un espai de memòria, creativitat i compromís.
Tribute to Zoraida Burgos: Words, Translation and Social Awareness from 2nd Year Baccalaureate D
The students of 2nd Year Baccalaureate D are carrying out an academic and creative project in tribute to Zoraida Burgos, the great poet from Tortosa who passed away at the beginning of the new year. This project was born with the aim of honoring her literary career, her commitment to language and culture, and her work as a translator of texts of great historical and social value.
One of the central pillars of the project has been Burgos’s role as a cultural mediator. In this context, the students have produced a translation of Letter from the Birmingham Jail by Martin Luther King Jr. as a posthumous tribute to the poet, since she herself had translated this fundamental document of the Civil Rights Movement. It is one of the most important anti-racist texts in history, in which King defends non-violent struggle against segregation and injustice.

At the same time, they have also worked on the poem Convivència d’aigües, which was translated and performed as part of the tribute. The poem was recited in Catalan and in English by the student Pablo Moreno, accompanied on the guitar by Júlia Redó, creating an artistic moment that brings together literature, music and social awareness, and reinforcing the symbolic value of Zoraida Burgos’s words.
In addition to the written translation, the students analyzed Martin Luther King’s document in English and carried out an oral summary activity, working on comprehension, expression and critical reflection on the text’s content. This process not only strengthens linguistic competence, but also encourages ethical thinking and awareness of racism and inequality.
As a final part of the project, a full video recording of one of the most relevant anti-racist documents in history will be produced, with the aim of giving it a new voice from the classroom and continuing to spread the values of justice, freedom and coexistence that both Martin Luther King Jr. and Zoraida Burgos defended throughout their work.
This project thus becomes an interdisciplinary experience that brings together language, literature, music and social commitment, turning the classroom into a space for memory, creativity and engagement.
